Douglas Crawford, AIA is an award winning architect and educator whose professional practice is focused on designing residential projects that are regionally relevant and site specific.  Through an honest use of materials that do not deceive their purpose, his designs imbue a vernacular sensibility.  He graduated with both a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture and a professional Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Design at North Carolina State University.  He went on to earn his Master of Architecture from the University of Florida. 

In 2018 Douglas started his own architecture practice, Douglas Crawford Architect PLLC, in Washington, DC.  Previously he has worked as a designer at The Walt Disney Company, The Beck Group, and as an architect at Perkins & Will, amassing a portfolio of work across many project types and scales.  He is a LEED accredited professional and is involved with the DC chapter of the American Institute of Architects [AIA], having served as the chair of the Emerging Architects Committee and on the AIA|DC Board of Directors.  Douglas was awarded the 2019 Emerging Architect Award by AIA|DC in recognition of his exceptional leadership and contribution to the profession of architecture.
